Four govt officials awarded prison terms under Official Secrets Act

Pronouncing a reserved verdict in the case of leakage of sensitive information, a special court, set up under the Official Secrets Act, in Islamabad on Saturday awarded different prison terms to four government officials while acquitted two officials for want of evidence.

Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra pronounced the decision.

Safdarur Rehman was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment, while Tafzeelur Rehman, Muhammad Waqar and Muhammad Tahir were awarded five-year prison term each.

Accused Mujtaba and Muhammad Ashfaq were acquitted.

The FIA had registered a case against these officials.
