Imran Khan moves IHC seeking permission for eye treatment

The founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf  (PTI) Imran Khan has approached the Islamabad High Court seeking permission for medical treatment for his eye.

A petition has been filed in the high court by senior lawyer Sardar Latif Khosa on behalf of the PTI founder. The plea requests the court to allow his transfer to Shifa International Hospital for proper medical examination and treatment.

According to the petition, the PTI founder requires specialized care for his eye condition and should be shifted to the hospital to receive necessary medical attention.

The application also asks the court to permit access to his personal physicians, including Dr. Faisal Sultan and Dr. Asim, so they can supervise and assist in his treatment.

The court is expected to take up the petition for hearing in the coming days.

Moreover, Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi has made it clear that he will strictly act in accordance with the law and will not grant any special relief outside the legal framework in matters concerning PTI founder Imran Khan.

According to party sources, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan met the chief justice on Friday and later briefed senior party leaders about the discussion. During the meeting, the CJP reportedly said that he would proceed “by the book” and advised that any petition regarding Imran Khan’s medical condition should be filed in the appropriate legal forum.

Sources said Barrister Gohar had requested early relief directly from the Supreme Court instead of pursuing the case through the Islamabad High Court. The PTI wants Imran Khan to be shifted to a hospital of the party’s choice in Islamabad and has also asked that his personal doctors be allowed to examine him in jail.

On the same day, the Supreme Court returned a petition filed by the PTI seeking the transfer of its founder to Shifa International Hospital for specialized eye treatment by retina experts. The request had asked for immediate medical examination and treatment due to concerns about his eye condition.

Earlier, on February 25, Khan’s lawyer, Sardar Latif Khosa, submitted an application in the apex court under Order XXXV Rule 6 of the Supreme Court Rules, 2025. The petition requested that the former prime minister be moved to Shifa International Hospital in Islamabad for proper evaluation and treatment by a retina specialist.
