A woman committed self-immolation by sprinkling petrol on her body and then torching herself in Lahore, it was reported on Tuesday.
The incident took place in the Liaquatabad area of Lahore.
The brother of the victims said that his sister sprinkled petrol on her body and set herself alight, after which she received severe burn wounds. The victim was identified as 32-year-old Iqra.
Soon after receiving the report, a police team rushed to the site and shifted critically injured Iqra to a hospital, but she breathed her last on the way to the hospital.
Later, the police took the body into their custody and started legal proceedings.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Model Town Shehrbano Naqvi said that the police had collected evidence from the crime scene and started an investigation.
