Young actor Ayesha Khan has spoken candidly about the harsh realities behind the glamour of showbiz, revealing that she faces online harassment and threats on a near-daily basis.
The 23-year-old performer, known for her work in Dhurandhar and her appearance alongside Krystle D’Souza in the song Shararat, shared her experience during an interaction at the We The Women event. While she has been earning praise for her recent projects, she said the darker side of fame continues to weigh heavily on her.
Recalling an incident from her teenage years, Ayesha revealed that she was removed from a T-Series music video just a night before filming because she was considered “fat.” At the time, she was in Class 12 and had been finalised as the second lead in the song. The last-minute replacement, she said, left a lasting impact on her confidence.
The actor, who has appeared in projects like Baalveer and Om Bheem Bush, also highlighted the constant scrutiny she faces online. She said her social media posts often attract inappropriate comments and objectification, regardless of what she wears.
According to Ayesha, even posting a simple photograph becomes a calculated decision. She expressed frustration that women in the public eye are frequently sexualised for their clothing choices, whether they opt for casual outfits or more glamorous looks. “It’s a sad space to be in,” she noted, adding that no one should have to second-guess their personal expression out of fear of being objectified.
More alarmingly, she disclosed that she receives rape threats regularly. Calling for stricter action against online abuse, Ayesha said she hopes authorities and social media platforms will take stronger measures to ensure accountability.
