Voter count in Pakistan surges as thousands register daily

The number of registered voters in Pakistan has witnessed a significant increase, with the electoral roll expanding from 136.2 million by an average of 14,434 new voters being added daily, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Wednesday.

According to official figures, approximately 3.2736 million new voters are being registered annually across the country, reflecting a steady rise in electoral participation.

Notably, around 16.368 million young voters will become eligible to cast their votes for the first time in the upcoming general elections. On average, 272,800 young voters are being registered during the ongoing update of voter lists.

Provincial data shows that Punjab leads in new voter registrations, with about 5,940 voters being added daily. This is followed by Sindh, where 3,547 voters are registered each day.

In Balochistan, the daily registration rate stands at 2,257 voters, while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa records an average of 906 new voters per day.

The increasing voter base is expected to play a crucial role in shaping the outcome of the forthcoming general elections.
