US cancels visa appointments in Pakistan until March 13

The US Embassy Islamabad has announced the temporary cancellation of all immigrant and nonimmigrant visa appointments in Pakistan from March 9 to March 13. Applicants affected by the cancellations will receive instructions via email on how to reschedule their appointments.

Despite the cancellations, the embassy confirmed that routine and emergency services for US citizens in Pakistan will continue as usual.

Meanwhile, consular services at the US Consulate General Karachi and US Consulate General Lahore remain temporarily suspended.

The embassy has urged visa applicants and the public to stay updated via official channels for further announcements. The move comes amid ongoing logistical adjustments affecting US diplomatic services in the country.

The protest, which began as a demonstration against global political developments, quickly turned violent and resulted in deaths and injuries. The incident has started an important debate about the safety of diplomatic missions and the responsibility of local authorities.

According to reports, a large number of protesters gathered near the consulate building to express anger over international events related to tensions between United States, Israel and Iran. Many protesters were emotional and frustrated, and their demonstration soon became aggressive. Some people in the crowd tried to move closer to the consulate compound and reportedly threw stones and damaged property.
