New SOPs were issued on Monday to ensure monitoring of petroleum products in Punjab so that their uninterrupted supply could be ensured.
As per the notification issued in this regard, it was decided that tough measures would be taken to prevent the stockpiling of petrol and diesel.
Similarly, a decision was also taken to take action against those storing and transporting petrol and diesel illegally.
The notification read that a special control room would be set up at the provincial level to monitor the availability and prices of petroleum products.
It directed all oil depots in Punjab to daily submit to the control room reports on stocks.
On the other hand, the Punjab chief secretary on Monday directed that a control room be set up in the Department of Industries to monitor the demand and supply of petrol across the province, including Lahore.
The control room would remain in touch with the deputy commissioners of all four provinces.
