After talks with Mohsin Naqvi, ulema agree to end Youme Ali processions before sunset

In view of the present situation, leading Islamic scholars, belonging to the Shiite school of thought, met with Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi in Lahore on Tuesday and agreed to wind up all processions to be taken out on Youme Ali (RA), to be observed on the 21st of the holy month of Ramadan, before Maghrib prayers (sunset).

Speaking on the occasion, Naqvi said that all steps would be taken to facilitate and ensure the safety of mourners.

He said that ulema had always shown unity in every difficult time. “Today, the country again needs your support,” the minister said, and called upon the ulema to promote brotherhood and harmony in the society.

Speaking on the occasion, the ulema assured the government of Pakistan their complete cooperation in ensuring peace in the country during Ramadan.

They said that together they would foil every design of the enemy to create unrest in the country.

Naqvi thanked the ulema for giving assurances.

Secretary Interior Khurram Agha was also present on the occasion.

 

Foolproof security arrangements for processions

Islamabad Police have made foolproof security arrangements on the occasion of Hazrat Ali Day.

According to DIG Muhammad Jawad Tariq, more than 3,000 officers of Islamabad Police will perform security duties on the occasion of Hazrat Ali Day.

Traffic officers and officials will perform duties for traffic arrangements.

Foolproof security arrangements have also been completed for processions and gatherings on the occasion of Hazrat Ali Day.

Participants will be able to join the procession from designated routes after passing through the walk-through gate, metal detector and body search.

Streets and roads have been sealed on the route of the procession.

Snipers have been deployed on rooftops on the route of the procession.

Best traffic arrangements will be ensured for the convenience of citizens.

Special checking will be done on the internal and external routes of the city.

Senior officers will be present in the field to check the security arrangements and brief the personnel.
