LPG price increased by hefty Rs20 per kilogram

The upward trend in liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) prices continued on Tuesday as the retail price increased by another Rs20 per kilogram, adding further pressure on consumers already grappling with rising fuel costs.

According to a report by the 24NewsHD TV channel, the retail price of LPG rose from Rs330 to Rs350 per kilogram in the Karachi market on Tuesday.

LPG dealers said the continued increase in prices was linked to supply disruptions following the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

They noted that the war in the oil and gas producer region had reduced LPG supply while demand remained high, resulting in a persistent rise in prices.

The development follows another increase reported earlier when the price of LPG in Karachi surged by Rs30 per kilogram.

At that time, the retail rate had reached Rs330 per kilogram, while the government’s official price list showed the commodity priced at Rs226 per kilogram.

The surge in LPG prices comes amid a broader wave of fuel price hikes across the country. On Friday night, authorities announced a steep increase of Rs55 per litre in the price of petrol.

Prices of diesel, kerosene oil and jet fuel also witnessed sharp increases during the same adjustment. The price of jet fuel alone rose by Rs153.44 per litre.

Transporters subsequently raised fares, placing additional financial strain on commuters already struggling with escalating living costs.
