Uzbekistan delegation calls on CM Maryam, ex-PM Nawaz Sharif

Governor of Tashkent Province of Uzbekistan Zuhair Mirza Ayov led 7-member delegation called on PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif at Jati Umrah.

During the meeting, economic cooperation was discussed in tourism, agriculture, livestock, meat processing, beverages, citrus fruits and other sectors.

Uzbekistan delegation proposes Punjab to set up Babar Park in Lahore. Both sides agreed on declaring Punjab and Tashkent as brotherly provinces.

Tashkent Governor paid tribute to Chief Minister Maryam for restoration of historic Mughal-era buildings in Lahore. CM Maryam Nawaz accepted Uzbekistan invitation with gratitude. Governor Tashkent expresses delight over praise for Uzbek pulao, offers to send Uzbek chefs for training Pakistani chefs.

The former PM said Pakistanis were proud of Uzbekistan’s scientific and cultural heritage. Nawaz Sharif said Samarkand, like in the past, is still the center and axis of knowledge and skills.

He said Uzbek cuisine, especially pulao, is among the favorite dishes of Pakistanis. The first Mughal emperor of a united India came to India from Fergana, and the story of his impressive rule is still read today.
