Jeffrey Epstein case files hacked from FBI server, raised security alarm

Reuters reports indicate that this data breach occurred on February 12, 2023. On this date, a security glitch appeared on the Child Exploitation Forensic Lab server. As Special Agent Aaron Spyveck worked with this server to handle sensitive digital information, he left the server unsecured.

The following day, he found a text file on the server that indicated to him that the server had been compromised. Server activity indicated that someone had been searching through files related to Epstein.

The documents don’t reveal what particular documents were accessed or if the hacker downloaded any data. However, the authorities claim that the hacker appeared to be a cyber criminal. Initially, the hacker didn’t realize they were accessing a law enforcement database.

The hacker apparently expressed outrage after viewing documents related to the exploitation of children. The hacker even left a message saying they would report the server to the FBI. A video call was made to the hacker to show them the FBI logo on the system, ending the crisis without any damage.
