The Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) announced the teams for Pakistan’s boys and girls who are scheduled to compete in the Asia Under-12 Team Competitions and the Asia Regional Qualifying Event. The tournament is scheduled for April 11 to 18, 2026, in Kathmandu. It promises to bring together some of the region’s best young tennis players.
According to the PTF, the national trials took place from March 9 to 11, 2026, at the Pakistan Tennis Federation Tennis Complex. The trials were for the selection of the best under-12 tennis players who have the potential to represent Pakistan in international competitions.
The trials featured eight boys and five girls who were invited based on their recent performances in national-level tournaments. This ensured that the trials were competitive, as the teams for the national teams had to be selected from the invited players. After careful observation and assessment of the players, three players have been selected for the national team. These players are Muhammad Ayan, Muhammad Faizan, and Mustafa Uzair Rana. Muhammad Ibrahim Hussain Gill has been selected as the reserve player.
As far as the girls’ team is concerned, there were three players included in the final squad. These included Shehnoor Umar, Shehrein Umar, and Wajeeha Fatima, following their impressive performances during the trials. Dua Yousaf Qureshi was included as a reserve player for the girls’ team.
The officials of the PTF expressed their confidence in the selection of the players and expressed their best wishes to the young athletes. According to the officials, the young and talented players have the capability to produce excellent performances and proudly represent the Pakistani flag at the international tournament. They emphasized the importance of regional events, such as the Asia Under-12s, for young and emerging players. Playing against the best talent from different Asian countries provides young and emerging players the opportunity to polish their skills and boost their confidence as they compete at the international level.
The tournament to be held in Kathmandu, Nepal, provides a crucial opportunity for young and emerging players from Pakistan to display their talent and compete against the best emerging talent from different regions of Asia.
