Sindh CM, Governor join hands for development and price control during Ramadan

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah met with the newly appointed Governor of Sindh, Nihal Hashmi, at the Governor House in Karachi on Saturday.

During the meeting, Chief Minister Shah congratulated Governor Hashmi on taking charge of his new office. The Governor thanked him for his kind words and expressed appreciation for the warm wishes.

Officials discussed a wide range of issues concerning the province. They focused on the overall situation in Sindh and matters of mutual interest. Both leaders emphasized the importance of continuing joint efforts for the development of the province and the welfare of its citizens.

Governor Hashmi highlighted the need to provide relief to the public during the holy month of Ramadan. He suggested that controlling prices of essential food items and commodities could ease the burden on residents.

Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah assured that the provincial government was actively taking steps to regulate prices. He said measures were being implemented to ensure affordability for the people during the festive period.

The meeting also reinforced the commitment of both the Chief Minister and the Governor to collaborate closely on governance and development initiatives. They agreed that maintaining stability, promoting growth, and ensuring public welfare should remain key priorities.

Officials noted that such high-level discussions would continue to strengthen cooperation between the Governor’s office and the provincial government. They also discussed monitoring systems to prevent irregularities in essential commodities and ensure transparency.

Nihal Hashmi served as Legal and Justice Advisor to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif from 1997 to 1999. In 2012, he served as PML-N Karachi President and in August 2014, he was appointed General Secretary of PML-N’s Sindh chapter. In 2015, he was nominated as a Senate candidate from Punjab by PML-N.

In 2017, Hashmi was expelled from PML-N over a controversial statement related to the Panama case, but his membership was restored in 2021.
