As Eid approaches, robbery incidents appear to be increasing in the city. A major robbery took place in Lahore’s Defence A area where armed robbers stormed a citizen’s house and looted valuables worth millions.
According to details, four armed robbers entered the house and held the family members hostage at gunpoint. The suspects kept the residents under threat while searching different parts of the house.
Sources said the robbers looted cash, gold jewelry, expensive watches, mobile phones and other valuables worth around Rs160 million from the house.
The robbers reportedly remained inside the house for a considerable time, carrying out the looting before escaping from the scene.
Residents of the area have expressed serious concern over the security situation, saying that criminal gangs often become active as Eid approaches while effective policing measures appear lacking.
Police reached the scene after the incident, collected evidence and launched an investigation to trace and arrest the suspects.
