Pakistan condemns Taliban attack in Bajaur, rejects Afghan govt claims

Pakistan’s Ministry of Information has strongly criticized the statement made by the deputy spokesperson of the Afghan Taliban government, calling it an attempt to hide what it described as serious actions against civilians.

According to the ministry, forces from Taliban deliberately targeted civilian areas in Bajaur District. The attack reportedly resulted in the deaths of four innocent civilians and left a five-year-old child seriously injured.

The ministry stated that Pakistan’s military operations across the border are strictly limited to terrorist hideouts and militant bases. Officials said the country does not target civilians and only acts against groups that threaten national security.

The statement also rejected media content released by the Afghan Taliban government, saying Pakistan does not rely on what it described as AI-generated images or videos circulated by Taliban channels.

According to the Ministry of Information, the claims made by the Afghan government are misleading and are being exposed both inside Afghanistan and internationally.

Officials added that the cross-border attack in Bajaur, which killed four civilians, highlights the seriousness of the security situation along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border and the need to prevent such incidents in the future.

Moreover, Pakistan has strongly rejected allegations made by the Afghan Taliban’s deputy spokesperson, calling them a misleading attempt to hide the Taliban regime’s own actions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

According to Pakistan’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Afghan Taliban deliberately targeted civilians on March 15, 2026, around 3:30 pm in Tabesta Letai village of the Salarzai area, Bajaur district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The attack reportedly resulted in the martyrdom of four civilians, while a five-year-old child sustained serious injuries.

Officials stated that the Taliban’s claims against Pakistan are baseless and aimed at diverting attention from the incident involving civilian casualties on the Pakistani side of the border.

The government also clarified that Pakistan’s armed forces had conducted precision strikes during the night of March 14–15, but these operations targeted only terrorist hideouts, infrastructure, and technical equipment linked to militant groups allegedly backed by the Afghan Taliban regime. The strikes were carried out in Kandahar, and visual evidence of the operation has already been released publicly.

Authorities emphasized that Pakistan’s military operations are conducted with transparency and are strictly focused on militant targets. They further criticized what they described as repeated misinformation campaigns by official Afghan Taliban channels, saying such tactics rely on outdated, fabricated, or AI-generated visuals and ultimately undermine the credibility of the Taliban regime both domestically and internationally.

Pakistan reiterated that facts and evidence remain clear, asserting that truth will prevail over misinformation.
