The district administration in Peshawar has imposed Section 144 ahead of Eid ul-Fitr in an effort to maintain public safety and prevent untoward incidents during the festive period.
According to an official notification issued on Monday, the restrictions will remain in force for one month. Authorities said the decision was taken to ensure law and order and to provide a safe environment for citizens celebrating the upcoming religious festival.
Under the new measures, the public display of weapons, aerial firing, and the sale or use of fireworks have been strictly prohibited. Officials warned that such activities often lead to accidents and disturbances during celebrations.
The administration has also banned dangerous motorcycle activities, including stunts, overspeeding, and riding without helmets. Authorities said these steps are aimed at reducing road accidents during the busy Eid season.
In addition, overloading of boats and unsafe rides at amusement parks have been prohibited to prevent mishaps. The notification also bars people from swimming or bathing in dams and rivers without life jackets due to the risk of drowning incidents.
The use of heavy bikes fitted with double or high-noise silencers has also been restricted. Similarly, the operation of sports cars that create disturbances on public roads will not be allowed during the enforcement period.
Officials stated that anyone violating the restrictions will face legal action under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code, which deals with disobedience to orders issued by public authorities.
