Petition filed in LHC against ongoing kite flying in Lahore despite ban

A petition has been filed in the Lahore High Court against the continued practice of kite flying in Lahore despite a government ban on the activity.

The petition was submitted by a citizen, Munir Ahmed, who urged the court to take strict action to stop the dangerous practice. He stated that kite flying is still happening in different parts of the city even though authorities have already banned it due to safety concerns.

According to the petition, a police constable was injured just two days ago after being struck by a sharp kite string while performing his duty. The petitioner argued that such incidents highlight the serious risks posed by kite flying, especially when chemical-coated strings are used.

The application further claimed that the relevant authorities have failed to properly enforce the ban, allowing the activity to continue openly across the city. It also pointed out that no effective measures have been taken to control the sale and use of hazardous kite strings.

Munir Ahmed requested the court to direct authorities to register cases against those involved in kite flying and ensure strict implementation of the ban to prevent further injuries and protect public safety.
