Pakistan, Iran reaffirm commitment to dialogue amid regional tensions

Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan Reza Amiri Moghadam called on Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar in Islamabad, where both sides exchanged views on the evolving regional situation and underscored the importance of diplomacy in resolving ongoing disputes.

During the meeting, the Iranian envoy conveyed Tehran’s gratitude for Pakistan’s consistent moral support during challenging times. He appreciated Islamabad’s balanced stance and its emphasis on peaceful engagement in addressing regional issues.

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar expressed deep regret over the loss of precious human lives amid recent tensions, stressing that such tragedies highlight the urgent need for restraint and constructive engagement. He reiterated Pakistan’s principled position that disputes, including the ongoing tensions involving Iran and the United States, should be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy.

Dar emphasised that meaningful dialogue remains essential for achieving lasting peace and stability in the region. He expressed hope for an early and peaceful resolution of the Iran-US dispute, noting that escalation would only deepen instability and human suffering.

The deputy prime minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to supporting all efforts aimed at de-escalation and fostering regional harmony. He maintained that diplomatic channels must remain open and active to prevent further deterioration of the situation.

The meeting concluded with both sides agreeing on the need to continue close coordination and to promote peaceful solutions through sustained diplomatic engagement.
