CM Bugti announces arrest of teen female suicide bomber

Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti said on Wednesday that security forces in the province had achieved a major breakthrough as they had arrested a teenaged female suicide bomber.

Addressing a press conference in Quetta with provincial home minister sitting alongside him and the girl, the chief minister said that the arrest had laid bare the narrative built around missing persons.

He further said that Balochistan was being dragged into a war, which was meaningless and futile. “Terrorists are misguiding the people of the province by whipping up Baloch nationalism,” Bugti said, adding however, the people of the province did not believe in propaganda by the terrorists.

He accused terrorists of exploiting Baloch women.

He also said that Afghanistan had become a safe haven for terrorists.

Speaking on the occasion, 19-year-old Laiba, a resident of Khuzdar, said that she was brainwashed so that she could become a suicide bomber. “I got impressed by Commander Ibrahim’s talk and decided to become a suicide bomber,” she explained.

However, she went on to say, she got arrested.

Laiba said that she was tasked with training more girls for the purpose.

She informed that she was asked to meet BYC leader Dr. Sabiha for further training. “Commander Ibrahim introduced me to Dil Jan, who was to take me to Dr. Sabiha’s place,” the girl explained.

Laiba appealed to all Baloch women and girls not to become part of anti-state activities and stay away from terrorism.
