Punjab police expedited the process to deport illegal Afghan nationals and so far have been able to send back 32,932 illegal Afghans who were residing in Punjab cities including Lahore, it was reported on Wednesday.
A spokesman of the Punjab police said that 401 holding points have been established across Punjab. The spokesman further said that deported Afghans included 12,498 men, 6,686 women, and 13,748 children.
The spokesman said that 10,482 illegal Afghan nationals were deported for not having residential evidence, 11,100 Afghan citizen cardholders, and 11,350 foreigners.
Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Punjab Rao Abdul Karim said that Punjab’s security is already on high alert and “we are ensuring to send all illegal foreign nationals who were residing in the province.
The IGP said that the Punjab police deported foreigners as per their policy.
