The Government of the Punjab has announced a three-day public holiday across the province on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, giving citizens ample time to celebrate one of the most important religious festivals.
According to an official notification issued by the Services and General Administration Department (Welfare Wing) in Lahore on March 18, 2026, the holidays will fall on March 19, 20, and 21 (Thursday, Friday, and Saturday). All provincial government offices, public institutions, and administrative departments will remain closed during this period.
The government took this step to facilitate people in observing Eid with ease and enthusiasm. Families across Punjab usually mark the occasion with special prayers, gatherings, charity, and festive meals. The extended break will allow many to travel to their hometowns and spend quality time with loved ones.
Authorities have directed both national and regional media to widely publicize the announcement to ensure that citizens, businesses, and institutions stay informed. Officials expect the clear and timely communication to help avoid confusion regarding working days and public services.
The notification has also been circulated to key government offices, including administrative secretaries, commissioners, deputy commissioners, and law enforcement authorities, to ensure smooth implementation across the province.
With this announcement, the provincial government aims to support public convenience while maintaining administrative coordination during the festive period.
