KPK CM pushes skills, startup grants for 42,000 youth

Sohail Afridi, the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, chaired a high-level meeting of the Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) in Peshawar to review youth development programs across the province.

Afridi emphasized that billions are being invested in youth welfare and development, and the outcomes of these initiatives must be visible on the ground. He stressed the importance of equipping young people with market-relevant skills and creating employment opportunities.

The meeting highlighted the Skills Development and Employment Promotion Programme as a priority. The Chief Minister directed authorities to ensure its effective implementation, aligning training initiatives with industry demands.

Under the Rural Economic Transformation Project, the government is providing startup grants to 42,000 young entrepreneurs. Each recipient receives an average of Rs 73,000 to help launch business ventures and contribute to the local economy.

Afridi underscored that these measures are designed not only to create jobs but also to foster entrepreneurship and self-reliance among the youth. He announced a detailed post-Eid review meeting to further refine and advance these programs, ensuring long-term impact and strategic growth.

Earlier, The District and Sessions Court in Islamabad has issued non-bailable arrest warrants against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi for failing to appear in court.

The hearing, overseen by Civil Judge Abbas Shah, concerns allegations made by Afridi against state institutions. The court ordered that Afridi be taken into custody and presented at the next hearing.

Following this, the court adjourned the case until March 26.

It is noted that the case against Sohail Afridi was filed under the PECA Act by the NCCIA.
