Kim Jong Un wins 99.93% of votes in North Korea Parliamentary elections

North Korea’s parliamentary elections in 2026 recorded a landslide victory for Kim Jong Un and his party. According to reports from North Korean authorities, the Workers’ Party of Korea and its allies won 99.93% of votes in the elections. The new assembly, comprising 687 members, is made up solely of party members and supporters in the new Supreme People’s Assembly, the 15th edition.

The elections recorded an astonishing turnout of 99.99% on March 15. Official reports indicate that only 0.0037% of voters were unable to take part in the elections because they were abroad or at sea. On the other hand, only 0.00003% chose not to vote. Interestingly, reports from North Korean authorities indicated that 0.07% voted against candidates in the elections. Analysts believe this was just for show and to give the impression that democracy was at work in North Korea.

The new assembly is set to meet on March 22 and is likely to discuss constitutional reforms. Analysts believe that this assembly will only serve to further solidify the stance on South Korea and to ratify Kim Jong Un as the new head of the State Affairs Commission.

Analysts believe that elections in North Korea are quite different from other democracies around the world. The results are predetermined and are meant to give more strength and legitimacy to the ruling party.

Although reports from around the world are skeptical about the results, reports from within North Korea are more positive and indicate that this was a huge victory for Kim Jong Un and his party. Analysts believe that this new assembly will only serve to further entrench Kim Jong Un and his party and to focus more on strategic objectives and how to achieve them.
