China’s ambassador in Pakistan Jiang Zaidong on Tuesday praised Pakistan’s role during the prevailing situation in the Gulf and said that the country’s role of a peacemaker was important and constructive.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, he said that China would continue to make efforts aimed at bringing about reconciliation in the region.
Zaidong said that non-military sites should not be the target of strikes, and that the protection of sea routes must be ensured at all costs.
The ambassador said that China supported the resolution of issues through negotiations and dialogue rather than through the use of force.
He said that there had been some actions in the Middle East, which constituted violation of the United Nations’ charter.
