PTI senior leaders reject task force plan for Imran Khan’s release

Senior leaders of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have expressed opposition to the idea of forming a task force aimed at securing the release of party founder Imran Khan, suggesting that negotiations would be a more suitable approach under the current circumstances.

According to party sources, the senior leadership has shared its concerns with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, advising him to avoid steps that could escalate political tensions. They believe that the prevailing national and international situation requires a cautious and dialogue-based strategy rather than confrontation.

The leaders warned that attempting to organize a march towards Islamabad could cause serious setbacks for the party. They emphasized that pursuing protests in the current environment may not be beneficial for party workers and could potentially harm PTI’s political standing.

They further noted that a task force, if formed, would likely focus on protest-related activities, which they consider unsuitable at this time. Instead, they recommended that the party prioritize negotiations and political engagement as a more effective path forward.

It is worth mentioning that Chief Minister Sohail Afridi had previously announced plans to establish a task force on April 19 for the purpose of working toward Imran Khan’s release. However, internal disagreements within the party leadership now indicate a divide over the best strategy to adopt.

The developments highlight differing views within PTI’s senior ranks as the party continues to navigate its political strategy in a challenging environment.
