Pakistan, alongside the United Kingdom and other Arab, OIC and European members of the UN Security Council (UNSC), has reiterated strong opposition to the annexation of any part of the Occupied Palestinian Territory (OPT) and the forcible displacement of Palestinians, in line with the UN Charter and relevant Security Council resolutions.
Delivering a joint statement at a press stake-out, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Asim Iftikhar, underscored the group’s rejection of all attempts to alter the demographic composition, character and status of Palestinian territories occupied since 1967, including East Jerusalem.
The statement recalled that the Security Council has previously condemned such actions, stressing that they violate international law, undermine ongoing peace efforts and run counter to broader peace frameworks, thereby jeopardising prospects for a just and lasting resolution.
