Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif convened a high-level meeting at the Prime Minister’s House to discuss regional tensions, national security, and smart lockdown strategies.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari attended, joined by Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti, and federal ministers.
The session focused on Pakistan’s stance amid the ongoing Middle East crisis and measures to maintain domestic stability. Shehbaz Sharif briefed participants on strategies for implementing smart lockdowns across provinces and shared updates on Pakistan’s role regarding the Iran conflict.
Further discussions are planned with President Asif Ali Zardari at Aiwan-e-Sadr, where the Prime Minister will provide updates on regional developments and potential mediation efforts between the United States and Iran.
Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a telephone conversation with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to discuss the rapidly changing situation in the Middle East amid rising tensions linked to the ongoing US-Israel-Iran conflict.
During the call, both leaders exchanged views on recent regional developments and expressed concern over the impact of escalating tensions on peace and stability. They also discussed the importance of diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions and prevent further conflict in the region.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong support for Saudi Arabia and emphasized the country’s commitment to standing by the Kingdom during challenging times. He also strongly condemned any threats or attacks against Saudi Arabia’s security and sovereignty.
