Police in Rahim Yar Khan District have intensified search operations against illegal Afghan residents, detaining dozens during recent operations, officials said on Friday.
According to a police spokesperson, teams from the City and Sadiqabad circles conducted raids in an area, where several families were taken into custody. A total of 43 people, including men, women and children, were identified as illegal residents during the operations.
Authorities confirmed that the detained people have been shifted to a designated centre for further legal processing. Police have also initiated legal action against owners of brick kilns who allegedly provided employment and shelter to undocumented Afghan nationals. Officials emphasized that facilitating illegal residents is a punishable offence under the law.
District Police Officer Irfan Ali Samo warned that strict action would be taken against anyone found supporting or hiding illegal residents. He urged the public to cooperate with law enforcement by reporting such cases.
The DPO added that district-wide search operations against criminal elements and undocumented foreigners will continue, stressing that those aiding such individuals will also face legal consequences if they fail to comply with the law.
