PTI opens registration for ‘Free Imran Khan Movement’

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi on Friday formally opened the registration for a new political initiative titled the “Free Imran Khan Movement”.

Addressing a ceremony in Peshawar, Afridi stated that he had so far pursued all constitutional and legal avenues in his political struggle. He emphasized that he represents a mandate of 45 million people and claimed to be the only chief minister currently holding office through electoral votes, yet alleged he was being denied access to the jailed former prime minister Imran Khan, who is also founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

Afridi criticised what he described as restrictions placed on him, including the blocking of his passport and barriers preventing him from meeting his leader at Adiala Jail. He said such measures had left him with no option but to initiate a protest movement.

The KP chief minister asserted that he would not remain silent in the face of what he termed the imposition of “corrupt elements” on the public. He reiterated his long-standing stance as a proponent of protest politics and vowed to continue advocating for his position.

Highlighting the core objective of the movement, Afridi said the primary concern was not elections or constituencies, but the health and well-being of the jailed former prime minister Imran Khan. He announced that the registration of the Liberation Movement had begun nationwide and that, following the completion of membership, an oath-taking ceremony would be held to formally organise the movement.
