Polio Frontline workers (FLWs) from across Punjab were honoured at a special Eid recognition event held in Lahore, celebrating their dedication and tireless efforts in advancing the polio eradication programme. The ceremony brought together male and female FLWs, alongside provincial leadership and programme teams.
The recognition ceremonies were held simultaneously across all provinces, with participants virtually connected nationwide to mark a unified tribute to frontline workers. At the national level, the initiative was led by the Prime Minister’s Focal Person for Polio Eradication and GPEI Gender Champion, Ayesha Raza Farooq, while in Punjab, the ceremony was led by the Provincial Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) Coordinator, Mr Adeel Tasawur.
A key highlight of the event was the “Voices from the Field” segment, where selected male and female frontline workers shared reflections on their proudest moments and the motivation that drives their continued service. Their accounts underscored the courage, commitment, and community trust required to counter misinformation and ensure that every child is reached with the polio vaccine.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Adeel Tasawur said:
“Frontline workers are the backbone of our polio eradication efforts in Punjab. Their dedication, often in challenging circumstances, is a testament to their commitment to protecting children and communities. Today’s recognition is a well-deserved tribute to their service and a motivation to continue striving towards a polio-free future.”
The event venue was arranged with an Eid-themed setting, creating a warm and inclusive environment that encouraged engagement and appreciation. Certificates and tokens of recognition were distributed among frontline workers in acknowledgment of their invaluable contributions.
The ceremony concluded with a renewed commitment from all stakeholders to sustain momentum in the fight against polio, recognizing that the continued efforts of frontline workers remain central to achieving a polio-free Punjab and Pakistan.
