Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zedong Thursday called on JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman at his residence in Islamabad, where both sides held detailed discussions on regional developments, peace, and bilateral relations.
According to sources, the meeting focused on the evolving security situation in the region, including the ongoing tensions involving the United States, Israel, and Iran. Both leaders expressed concern over the attacks on Iran, terming them a violation of international law and Iran’s sovereignty.
The two sides agreed on the need for collective efforts to promote peace and stability, emphasizing that dialogue and peaceful means remain essential to maintaining regional harmony.
They also warned that in the absence of an immediate ceasefire, the conflict could have far-reaching economic consequences, not only for the Middle East but also for Europe and the wider global economy.
During the meeting, both leaders highlighted the importance of continued cooperation under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), noting that alignment in perspectives between Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam and China would contribute positively to regional peace and development.
Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Jiang said that Pakistan-China friendship has endured through all circumstances and expressed confidence that joint efforts could help shape a better future for the region.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman reaffirmed his party’s commitment to further strengthening Pakistan-China relations, stating that JUI-F has played a constructive role in promoting bilateral ties and will continue to do so.
He also stressed the importance of fostering brotherly relations among neighbouring countries, calling it a necessity for regional stability.
A luncheon was also hosted by Maulana Fazlur Rehman in honour of the visiting Chinese delegation.
