Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) and other opposition parties stage protest demonstration in different cities against record hike in petroleum prices by the government.
In Gujranwala, large number of people took to the street by holding placards and banners in their hands. The protesters shouted slogans against the government and rejected the increase in the prices of petroleum products.
Markazi Muslim League also staged protest in Gujranwala. The protestors said that the hike in the prices of petroleum products will further increase inflation and put extra burden on poor masses.
On JI call, the protest rally was taken out in Shikarpur under the guidance of local JI emir Abdul Samad Bhatti.
The protestors were carrying party flags and banners in their hands with various slogans against oil price hike. “The increase in the price of petrol and diesel will affect the economic conditions of the entire country”, protesters cried.
JI local emir said that Jamaat-e-Islami has rejected this cruel decision made by the government. They demanded of the government to withdraw the decision.
In Khyber Paktunkhawa, protest rally was staged in Swabi and other cities of the province.
Addressing the protestors, JI leaders said the increase in oil prices is an injustice to the people, therefore immediate relief should be provided.
The protesters warned the government that if prices are not reduced, the scope of the protest will be expanded. Public circles also rejected the increase in oil prices and demanded that the government take notice.
