In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, heavy rains and storms have caused widespread destruction and loss of life. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) reported that since March 25, thirty people have died and eighty-five others have been injured in weather-related incidents across the province.
Most of the fatalities occurred when roofs and walls collapsed during the downpours. Among the dead were twenty children, five men, and five women. The injured include thirty-six men, eleven women, and thirty-eight children.
The incidents were reported in several districts, including Abbottabad, Kohat, Peshawar, Nowshera, Bajaur, Lakki Marwat, Kurram, Hangu, Shangla, Buner, Malakand, Upper Dir, Batagram, North Waziristan, and Tank.
PDMA officials said intermittent rainfall continues across different parts of the province and warned that the wet weather is expected to last until April 4. Authorities have urged residents to take precautions, especially in vulnerable areas with weak structures, to avoid further casualties.
Relief operations are underway, with officials pledging immediate assistance to affected families. The situation highlights the risks posed by fragile housing and infrastructure in rural regions during natural disasters, as well as the urgent need for stronger disaster preparedness.
