Defence Minister Khawaja Asif said on Saturday that Pakistan was playing an important role in bringing about reconciliation between Iran and the USA.
Speaking to media men in Sialkot, the minister said he hoped that negotiations between the two countries would be productive. “We want peace in the region,” he said, adding, “We want both Iran and the USA to find a solution to their disputes through negotiations.”
However, he said it would be inappropriate to comment on the ongoing dialogue.
Recalling Pakistan’s recent military confrontation with India, Asif said that Pakistan Air Force inflicted heavy losses on India, which was five times bigger than Pakistan and was also financially stronger, by penetrating deep into the country’s airspace. “The humiliation India suffered at the hands of Pakistan made it a laughing stock all over the world,” he said.
The minister claimed that India was contemplating another false flag operation. “If India did any such thing again, Pakistan would even bomb Kolkata,” he threatened.
“We all believe in the Almighty Allah and Prophet Muhammad (PBUH),” he said and prayed to the Almighty Allah to rid the nation of sectarian divisions.
