Chicken prices surge in Peshawar after fuel price hike

Chicken prices in Peshawar have witnessed a sharp increase following the recent rise in petroleum product rates, with consumers facing significant inflationary pressure in daily food items.

According to market sources, the price of chicken increased by Rs 35 per kilogram within a single day, driven by higher transportation and supply costs linked to fuel price adjustments.

As a result, the price of live chicken reached Rs 490 per kg, compared to Rs 455 per kg recorded a day earlier. The cost of chicken meat has also climbed, reaching up to Rs 780 per kg in local markets.

Market dealers and wholesalers say the increase is directly connected to rising fuel expenses, which have impacted supply chains and distribution costs across the city. They warn that prices may fluctuate further if fuel rates remain unstable.
