The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has officially distanced itself from the recent attack on the United States embassy in Riyadh, describing the incident as a product of a “Zionist plot” and warning regional countries to remain vigilant against foreign provocations.
In an emphatic statement, the IRGC stressed that the Islamic Republic of Iran’s armed forces had no connection to the assault and cautioned neighboring nations against falling prey to U.S. and Israeli manipulation in the region.
Citing reports from the Wall Street Journal, the IRGC’s press release—number 54 in its official series—acknowledged the attack on the Riyadh embassy but outright condemned the act, clarifying that it was not linked to Iranian military forces. “The Islamic Republic of Iran maintains clearly defined objectives for its armed forces,” the statement read. “This attack is evidently the work of the Zionist enemy seeking to destabilize the region.”
The statement also reiterated a broader warning to countries in West Asia. The IRGC emphasized that regional nations should remain alert to the so-called U.S.-Zionist schemes, which it claims aim to destabilize and sow discord across the Middle East. According to the IRGC, prior advisories had already been issued to neighboring Muslim countries regarding such threats.
Analysts suggest that the announcement seeks to preemptively counter narratives linking Iran to regional unrest while highlighting Tehran’s ongoing critique of what it calls Western and Israeli interference. By attributing the embassy incident to external provocateurs, the IRGC aims to reinforce its stance as a stabilizing force in a region frequently marred by political tension.
The IRGC’s statement comes amid heightened sensitivities across the Gulf, where security concerns remain acute following a series of attacks on Western interests. Tehran’s insistence on non-involvement signals both a diplomatic posture and an effort to frame the narrative before international scrutiny intensifies.
As regional capitals assess the implications of the embassy attack, the IRGC’s message is clear: the responsibility, it asserts, lies not with Iran, but with foreign actors seeking to manipulate tensions for their strategic interests.
