Pakistani actress Laila has voiced strong criticism of the Karachi entertainment industry, describing it as less welcoming toward artists, particularly those coming from outside the city. Known for her early start in films and television at the age of 14, Laila is recognized for her candid personality and outspoken views on industry practices.
In recent remarks, Laila shared an experience where she was initially finalized for a television project but was later replaced after concerns were reportedly raised by producers regarding her professionalism. She stated that she had already committed to the project and was preparing to travel when she was informed of the change.
Laila also highlighted broader concerns about the industry’s attitude, claiming that established names are often overlooked despite their popularity and past success. She pointed out that some artists with proven track records struggle to secure opportunities, suggesting that the industry does not always value experience and audience appeal.
Comparing regional dynamics, she remarked that the Lahore industry has historically been more welcoming to talent from different backgrounds, while Karachi, in her view, needs to adopt a more inclusive and open approach toward artists, especially those from Punjab.
