A series of missile attacks shook central parts of Israel, as continuous strikes were reportedly launched overnight from Lebanon and Iran. The coastal city of Haifa suffered significant damage, where emergency crews recovered four bodies from the rubble of a heavily damaged building.
Rescue teams worked for hours under dangerous conditions to reach those trapped beneath the debris. During a complex operation on Monday, they first recovered two victims. Later, they found the bodies of a 40-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman. Crews located the final victim nearly 18 hours after the initial strike.
Authorities had initially listed four people as missing. Officials confirmed that the targeted building sustained severe structural damage and remained at risk of collapse, which made rescue efforts even more challenging.
Investigators revealed that the missile’s warhead, believed to contain hundreds of kilograms of explosives, did not detonate upon impact. However, the missile’s extreme speed generated powerful kinetic force, causing multiple floors of the building to collapse. Rescue officials stated that if the warhead had exploded, it could have destroyed not only the building but also nearby homes.
Emergency responders described the operation as one of the most difficult during the ongoing conflict due to the constant threat of further structural failure.
According to the Israeli military, the missile broke apart mid-air, which altered its trajectory and prevented air defense systems from intercepting it effectively. A second attack followed on Monday morning, when another missile struck the same area. This time, it carried a cluster warhead, injuring at least four people.
In addition to the main strike, several smaller explosions occurred across nearby locations. These blasts damaged vehicles and sparked fires, adding to the overall destruction and chaos in the region.
