The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) generated Rs420 billion under the head of income tax during the current fiscal year 2025-26, it was reported on Tuesday.
Sources within the FBR said that 7.8 percent was witnessed in salaried persons paying income tax.
The sources further revealed that the Federal Board of Revenue collected Rs391 billion under the head of income tax during the previous fiscal year.
Tax experts said that the number of salaried persons who are paying income tax is increasing.
The sources said that Rs572 billion were collected under the head of withholding tax from contractors and suppliers during the nine months of the current fiscal year.
FBR collected Rs451 billion from contractors during the nine months of the previous fiscal year.
Tax experts said that the burden of taxes is increasing on salaried taxpayers. The salaried class declared the most compliant taxpayers.
