Declaring the ceasefire reached between the US, Israel and Iran for two weeks a ‘good omen’, the PTI termed it a positive development in the region.
In its declaration, the party expressed the hope that the ceasefire would last and that there would be no violation by both sides.
It noted that wars were no solution to disputes. “Solution to all issues lies in negotiations,” it said, and added that history bears testimony to the fact that wars had always brought destruction.
“For a durable peace in the region, diplomacy and dialogue are inevitable,” read the declaration.
The PTI hailed the efforts made by Pakistan and the maturity shown by the parties to the conflict which resulted in a ceasefire.
Earlier, welcoming the ceasefire reached between the US, Israel and Iran, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, however, said on Wednesday the government was yet to make clear what kind of mediatory role it had played to bring both sides to the negotiating table.
Speaking to the media in Islamabad, he expressed the hope that the ceasefire would be permanent and would help restore durable peace in the Gulf.
He further said that if peace persisted in the region, then oil prices would come down further, which would be a good omen for the region’s economic and political stability.
