Federal cabinet declares Friday as ‘Thanksgiving Day’ for successful ceasefire efforts

The federal government has decided to mark Friday as a Thanksgiving Day (Youme-Tashakur) across the country, calling on the nation to offer special prayers for the success of the upcoming United States-Iran negotiations scheduled to take place in Islamabad on April 10.

According to the inside story reported by the 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday, the decision was made during a federal cabinet meeting in Islamabad, where key political, economic, and internal matters were also discussed.

According to sources familiar with the proceedings, the cabinet members appreciated the efforts made to prevent escalation in the region, particularly acknowledging the role of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir in facilitating peace.

The federal cabinet members also expressed their approval by applauding during the meeting, the sources said.

Sources further revealed that cabinet members congratulated Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on the diplomatic developments, while the prime minister, in turn, paid tribute to the efforts of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for his contributions toward de-escalation.

The atmosphere of the meeting was described as celebratory, with sweets distributed among cabinet members to mark the occasion.

The government’s call for nationwide prayers reflects its emphasis on the importance of the upcoming talks and hopes for a peaceful outcome in the region.
