Indian Sikh pilgrims arrive in Pakistan for Vaisakhi

Sikh pilgrims from India have arrived in Pakistan through the Wagah Border to take part in the upcoming Vaisakhi festival. The visit marks an important religious and cultural event for the Sikh community.

The pilgrims came from different Indian regions, including Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, and other states. They were warmly received at Wagah Border after completing immigration and customs procedures.

Officials of the Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (PSGPC), along with Punjab Minister Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora and senior representatives of the Evacuee Trust Property Board, welcomed the visitors. Senior officers of the Lahore administration were also present on the occasion.

The visiting pilgrims were offered traditional hospitality. They were served tea and refreshments after their arrival. Security arrangements were also strictly implemented for their safe movement.

Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora said that Pakistan considers itself the land of Guru Nanak. He said that the country welcomes Sikh pilgrims with open arms. He added that despite tense relations between Pakistan and India, more than 2,800 visas were issued for the pilgrims.

He said that Pakistan has always promoted peace. He also said that Sikh pilgrims are free to visit whenever they wish, as the doors of Pakistan remain open for them.

Pilgrimage group leader Sardar Harjit Singh Pappa said that Pakistan is a peaceful country. He said that Sikhs from around the world want to visit Pakistan. He added that pilgrims receive great respect and hospitality during their stay.

Another pilgrim, Sardar Channitok Singh, thanked the Pakistani government. He said that 2,840 visas were issued for Indian pilgrims despite border tensions. He appreciated the arrangements made for their visit.

Officials from the Evacuee Trust Property Board said that complete arrangements have been made for the pilgrims. These include accommodation, transport, food, medical support, and security throughout their stay.

After arrival, the pilgrims were divided into three convoys. They were taken under tight security to different Gurdwaras, including Gurdwara Janam Asthan in Nankana Sahib. The first convoy has already departed.

The main Vaisakhi celebrations will be held on April 14 at Gurdwara Panja Sahib. Large gatherings of pilgrims are expected for the religious ceremonies.
