Mamya Shajaffar under fire for bold dance performance

Emerging Pakistani actress and model Mamya Shajaffar, also known as Maham Shahid, has come under criticism on social media after a video of her dance performance at a wedding event went viral.

Mamya, who gained recognition through the Hum TV drama Meesni, attended a friend’s wedding where she performed to a popular Bollywood track. She was seen wearing a mint-green outfit while dancing, and clips of her performance quickly spread across social media platforms.

The viral video sparked mixed but largely negative reactions online, with many users criticising her outfit and dance style. Some social media users accused her of being overly bold in her performance, while others questioned her stage presence and dance technique.

A section of users also objected to the background setting in the video, claiming that certain visual elements were inappropriate. The discussion further escalated as comments ranged from criticism of her appearance to personal judgments about her behaviour.

Earlier, Mamya Shajaffar recently opened up about her early marriage, revealing that she and her husband, photographer Farooq Gul, were college sweethearts.

In a new interview with a digital magazine, actor Maham Shahid Khan, known by her screen name Mamya Shajaffar, shared that she proposed to her now-husband and married at the age of 25, believing it was the right time.

“I didn’t just jump into it. We knew each other all along; we studied together at BNU and remained friends for the longest time. He helped me during a vulnerable phase in my life,” she said. “We were seeing each other for three years. One day, I just called him and asked him to send his mother for a marriage proposal.”

“Before that, one day we were sitting and I asked him, ‘Can we just get married?’ So, I was the one who seriously proposed to him,” she added.
