Pakistan Navy rescues 18 crew, including foreigners, in swift Arabian Sea operation

The Pakistan Navy successfully carried out a humanitarian rescue operation in the North Arabian Sea, saving 18 crew members of a distressed merchant vessel after an emergency distress call.

According to officials, the vessel MV Gold Autumn sent an alert from nearly 200 nautical miles (around 370 km) off Pakistan’s coast. The Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) immediately activated its Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre and coordinated the response.

A nearby naval ship, PNS Hunain, was quickly deployed to assist the vessel. The navy team conducted a full-scale rescue operation, providing medical aid, supporting firefighting efforts, assessing vessel damage, and safely evacuating all crew members.

The rescued sailors included nationals from China, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Vietnam, and Indonesia.

All 18 crew members were transported to Karachi, where they are receiving medical care before being repatriated to their home countries.

Officials said the operation highlights the Pakistan Navy’s rapid response capability and its continued role as a first responder in maritime emergencies within its area of responsibility.
