Maryam Nawaz welcomes Sikh pilgrims, extends Baisakhi greetings

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz welcomed Sikh pilgrims arriving to attend the Baisakhi festival and extended her greetings on the occasion.

In her message to the Sikh community, Maryam Nawaz said that joy and affection can be seen on every face during the Baisakhi celebrations, which reflects the true beauty of Punjab.

She added that it is an honor to host Sikh brothers and sisters on their visit to their homeland.

She stated that no effort will be spared in serving the visiting pilgrims, and the best arrangements have been made for their travel, accommodation, food, and security.

The Chief Minister further said that, for the first time, air-conditioned marquees, dedicated residential facilities, and luxury transport have been arranged for Sikh guests.

She emphasized that the protection of minority rights remains a top priority of the Punjab government, and practical steps in this regard are clearly visible.

It is worth mentioning that Punjab’s festivals are closely linked with seasons and harvests. Baisakhi is celebrated as the wheat harvest festival, while Lohri has traditionally been marked as a sugarcane harvest celebration.
