Iqbal Garden Housing Society continues promotion without LDA approval

The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) continued its operation against illegal housing societies and put a ban on sale and purchase of Iqbal Garden Housing Scheme, Kala Shah Kaku, District Sheikhupura.
The LDA also issued notices to the management of the housing society to stop illegal development works/ sale / purchase against violation of LDA Act 1975. It further said that the routine field visit revealed that Iqbal Garden Housing Society is being executed illegally in “Agriculture Zone” of the Amended Master Plan for Lahore Division 2016 and restricted zone of River Ravi Front Urban Developmental Project notified under Section 04 (2) of the Land Acquisition Act 1894 where no housing scheme can be approved.

The LDA has also initiated necessary legal action against it. In order to protect the interests of the general public, the LDA has requested to direct the concerned staff to impose ban on issuance of Fard-e-Malkiat, registration of any document or/and attestation of mutation in favour of subject illegal housing society until the formal approval by the competent authority.

To safeguard public interest and curb the menace of illegal housing projects and encroachments in the provincial capital, the authority has established a WhatsApp helpline. The LDA DG said citizens can send their complaints and suggestions on WhatsApp no 0322-8888 283. He announced that he would randomly call back complainants and applicants, daily, to check the performance of LDA officials and resolve public issues.
He highlighted that citizens can lodge their complaints on road conditions, encroachments, illegal constructions, commercial activities, land grabbing and private housing schemes through this WhatsApp number. He said these messages would help bring irregularities to the notice of the authority.
Earlier this year, he Lahore Development Authority formed a committee comprising Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) and its own officials to take action against illegal construction and private housing schemes.
