Rizwan up, Babar down in ICC Test rankings

DUBAI: Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan moved up one place while former skipper Babar Azam slipped down in latest ICC Test Batting Rankings issued on Wednesday.

Rizwan, who is a strong contender for white-ball captain after Babar’s resignation, stood at seventh place with 720 rating points.
However, Babar Azam dropped to 12th spot after moving down by one place in the rankings. England’s Joe Root is the world No 1 Test batsman with 899 rating points followed by Kane Williamson of New Zealand and Yashaswi Jaswal of India at second and third place, respectively.

Meanwhile, Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah reclaimed the No.1 ranked bowler after reshuffling at the top of the Test rankings.

Bumrah overtook teammate Ravichandran Ashwin and claimed the premier position for just the second time on the back of his six scalps for the match during India’s recent seven-wicket triumph over Bangladesh in Kanpur.
