Citizen moves LHC to fix $1000 per month as minimum wage

LAHORE: A citizen has moved the Lahore High Court (LHC) to fix minimum salary at $1000 per month across Pakistan.

A citizen filed an application in the high court making PM Shehbaz Sharif and all ministers respondents.

The applicant mentioned that the government had fixed Rs37,000 per month as minimum salary across Pakistan.

Pakistan had 3.2 million government employees and private employees accounted for 80 million.

The pleader requested for the raise in the minimum wage that would increase the purchasing power of the citizens.

It was stated that Pakistan labor laws needed immediate amendments.

Applicant pleaded the court to order fixation of the minimum salary at $1000 dollars per month across country and reject the notification of minimum salary at Rs37,000.
