An Israeli airstrike in the early hours of Wednesday also killed six people in Aaramoun, in the mountains some 15km (10 miles) south of Beirut, Lebanon’s health ministry said.
White House envoy Amos Hochstein told Axios that he thinks “there is a shot” at a truce in Lebanon soon. “I am hopeful we can get it.”

A strike has hit south Beirut following a warning by the Israeli army to evacuate parts of the area, Al Jazeera reported citing and AFPTV footage that showed a plume of black smoke rising over the area.
Israel issues more displacement orders to Lebanon
Israeli forces have warned residents in areas of Haret Hreik and Ghobeiry municipalities to flee before it begins military operations, Al Jazeera reported.
“You are located near Hezbollah facilities and interests, against which the IDF will act forcefully in the near future,” Israeli army spokesperson Avichay Adraee said on X.
The warning comes after Israeli forces killed eight in an attack on southern Beirut.

President-elect Donald Trump on Tuesday nominated ex-Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee as the next US ambassador to Israel, tapping a staunchly pro-Israel conservative whose choice could signal future US policy toward conflicts in the Middle East.
Huckabee has been a vocal supporter of Israel throughout his political career and a longtime defender of Jewish settlements in the occupied West Bank.
“There’s no such thing as an occupation,” said Huckabee in a 2017 interview with CNN.
“He loves Israel, and the people of Israel, and likewise, the people of Israel love him. Mike will work tirelessly to bring about Peace in the Middle East!” said Trump in a statement.
Israel let one UN mission deliver aid to north Gaza before attacking area
The UN’s humanitarian agency (OCHA) says Israel obstructed all attempts to deliver food and health care to thousands in besieged northern Gaza this month, permitting only one mission by the World Food Programme on November 11, Al Jazeera reported.
The convoy — two trucks carrying life-saving ready-to-eat rations and wheat flour and one truck carrying bottled water — was delivered to the Mahdia Al Shawwa shelter and a nearby public shelter.
Shortly afterwards, Israeli forces surrounded the area, shelled it and forced people there to flee.
Earlier, Palestinian media reported that Israeli forces had set fire to Mahdia Al Shawwa and destroyed the building.
