DAMASCUS: Syria’s international airport has reopened after a 10-day closure, with the first flight of Syrian Air departing for Aleppo.
The flight, carrying 43 passengers, included both local travelers and a significant number of foreign journalists.
Before the official reopening, the flag of the interim Syrian government was hoisted, and the aircraft displayed a redesigned version of the Syrian flag, replacing the old emblem.
The Damascus Airport had been closed since December 8, following the ousting of President Bashar al-Assad.
